Qualibyte Software’s Pixelformer application was purposely developed to work with small and medium-sized images. And that means it is ideally suited for creating and editing icons, sprites, buttons, and other things of the sort. Go get it if you need a lightweight yet powerful tool to edit images – small images in particular.

Pixelformer works with any Windows edition from Windows 2000 up to Windows 7. For the application to work on your Windows-powered system, it must meet the following system requirements: 1GHz processor, 512Mb or RAM memory, monitor capable of 1024x768 resolution. It’s safe to say that a modern PC will easily meet these requirements.

The application’s interface is just what you would expect from an image editor: the image you're working on is presented front and center in the interface, buttons and menus for accessing the various editing functions are presented around the image. If you have used an image editing software tool before, then you shouldn't have any problems getting accustomed to Pixelformer interface.

As mentioned above, Pixelformer is ideally suited for working with small to medium-sized images. This doesn't mean that you can't use it to work on larger images as well. If no other tool is available, you can use Pixelformer to edit large images. Getting back to small and medium-sized images, with the functionality Pixelformer has to offer you can create, modify, and convert icons, sprites, and other small graphics files. Compared to large bitmap editors, Pixelformer is faster, easier to use, with more precise qualities that are sure to come in handy.

Pixelformer is freeware. You can use it for free for as long as you want.

Pixelformer is the tool for you if you want to work with small images, like icons and sprites.

Pros

The system requirements for running Pixelformer are quite low. You will immediately feel at home with Pixelformer interface. The application is ideally suited for working with small to medium-sized images. Pixelformer is free.

Cons

None that I could think of.
